Sensory processing refers to the way our brain receives and interprets information from the world around us through our senses. For some individuals, processing sensory information can be challenging and overwhelming. However, there are several tips that can help make sensory processing easier.
One tip is to create a sensory-friendly environment. This can involve reducing noise and clutter, using soft lighting, and providing comfortable seating. Another tip is to use sensory tools, such as fidget toys or weighted blankets, to provide additional sensory input and help regulate the nervous system.
It’s also important to identify and understand personal sensory preferences. Some individuals may find deep pressure or heavy work activities calming, while others may prefer light touch or movement. Knowing what works best for you can help you better manage sensory information.
Engaging in regular sensory breaks throughout the day can also be helpful. This can involve taking a few minutes to engage in a calming activity or movement, such as yoga or stretching.
By implementing these sensory processing tips, individuals can better manage sensory information and improve their overall well-being.

Children will require various amounts and types of sensory input. Some children may become overwhelmed by certain types of sensory input other may seek additional sensory input to calm and regulate their body and emotions.
