At South Coast Therapy & Support Group, we pride ourselves on staying current with the latest innovations in assistive technology so we can offer the best advice, assessments, and support to our clients. This week, our therapist team had the opportunity to visit Everyday Mobility, a trusted local supplier of mobility aids and home care equipment.
A Hands-On Experience for Our Therapists
During our visit, we had the chance to trial and explore a wide variety of assistive technology options, including:
Electric lift recliner chairs that promote independence and safety when moving from sitting to standing
Shower commodes that provide dignity and comfort for clients with personal care needs
Manual and powered wheelchairs suited for a range of mobility levels
Adjustable electric beds that improve comfort, reduce carer burden, and support better sleep
Mobility scooters ideal for maintaining independence in the community
Having hands-on access to this equipment gave our team a valuable opportunity to see features up close, compare models, and learn about the latest advances in function, design, and funding eligibility.
Supporting Informed Equipment Choices for NDIS Participants
As occupational therapists and speech pathologists, we regularly support clients through NDIS equipment trials, prescription of assistive technology, and funding application reports. Being able to confidently recommend equipment starts with understanding what’s available — and that’s exactly what this visit helped us achieve.
We also learned more about how to simplify the trial process for families, reduce waiting times, and match equipment choices to our clients’ long-term goals, whether for mobility, comfort, personal care, or safety at home.
