Recently our team had the pleasure of attending the Illawarra Aged Care Expo, hosted by Scope Home Access at the Fraternity Club in Fairy Meadow. The event was a fantastic opportunity to connect with a wide range of local providers, support coordinators, carers, and allied health professionals, all working together to support older adults in our Illawarra and South Coast communities.

With a strong focus on aging well at home, the expo brought together exhibitors from residential aged care, allied health, assistive technology, mobility solutions, home care providers, legal and financial services, and more. It was an inspiring showcase of the dedication and collaboration happening across the aged care sector.

Key Highlights from the Day:

  • Empowering Choice and Independence

One of the strongest messages from the day was the importance of giving older Australians real choice in how and where they receive support. Whether through in-home services, home modifications, or tailored therapy plans, the goal is to keep people living safely, comfortably, and independently in their own homes.

  • The Impact of Allied Health Services

As occupational therapists and speech pathologists, we were thrilled to see how prominently allied health was featured. From fall prevention and cognitive rehabilitation to communication support and assistive equipment, allied health professionals are playing a vital role in promoting wellbeing and maintaining independence in the aged care space.

  • Innovation in Home Access and Mobility

Scope Home Access and other exhibitors showcased a range of assistive technology and minor home modification solutions—from ramps and rails to smart technology and customised seating. It was a great opportunity to see how practical tools can make a huge difference in everyday safety and comfort for older adults.

  • Local Networking and Collaboration

Events like this are an excellent reminder of the value of working together. We enjoyed connecting with local service providers and support coordinators, and we’re looking forward to building even stronger partnerships across the Illawarra region to support aging clients in the most holistic and responsive ways possible.

Why It Matters

The Illawarra Aged Care Expo highlighted the importance of keeping aged care services local, relevant, and connected. As the needs of our community continue to grow and change, it’s events like these that help spark new ideas, strengthen professional networks, and ultimately, improve the lives of those we support.

At South Coast Therapy & Support Group, we’re proud to offer a range of services to support older adults—including occupational therapy, speech pathology, assistive technology prescription, and minor home modifications. If you or a loved one needs support to stay safe and independent at home, we’re here to help.

Let’s keep the conversation going.

If you missed us at the expo and want to learn more about how we can support you or your clients, feel free to reach out—we’d love to chat.
