Over the past few months, our beloved Labrador, Jasmine, has been hard at work—though you might not guess it from her wagging tail and love of belly rubs! Jasmine has been visiting many different places, including the clinic, and Sense Rugby sessions, as she continues her training to become an accredited therapy dog. We couldn’t be prouder of how far she’s come!

A Natural Helper with a Heart of Gold

Jasmine has been busy practicing her skills and spreading joy to everyone she meets. Whether she’s delighting children with her paw-shaking trick at Sense Rugby, or greeting clients in the clinic with a friendly nuzzle, Jasmine makes a lasting impression wherever she goes.

She’s especially fond of treats (they’re her favourite part of the job!) and loves to shake hands—her signature move that never fails to bring a smile. Her gentle, friendly nature and her eagerness to connect with people make her an ideal therapy dog in the making.

The Benefits of Therapy Dogs

Therapy dogs like Jasmine aren’t just cute companions—they bring real therapeutic value to a wide range of people. Some of the benefits include:

  • Reducing stress and anxiety: The simple act of petting a dog can lower stress hormones and increase feelings of relaxation.

  • Encouraging social interaction: Therapy dogs are natural conversation starters, helping people feel more at ease.

  • Boosting mood: Their presence can lift spirits and reduce feelings of loneliness or sadness.

  • Supporting emotional regulation: A calm, friendly dog like Jasmine can help clients feel grounded during difficult moments.

  • Building confidence and engagement: Especially for children and older adults, interacting with a dog can support communication, motivation, and a sense of connection.

What’s Next for Jasmine?

Jasmine will continue visiting a variety of places as she progresses through her therapy dog training. Whether she’s lending a paw at a Sense Rugby session or making a clinic visit a little less daunting, Jasmine is already making a big impact.

We can’t wait to share more updates about Jasmine’s journey. For now, keep an eye out for our happy, treat-loving Labrador—she might just offer you a paw and a smile on her next visit!
