Mobile Shower Commodes: When Basic Bathroom Equipment Isn’t Enough

For individuals with more complex needs, a mobile shower commode provides combined functionality for both showering and toileting. These devices allow for safe and dignified personal care, especially for clients who require significant assistance or have limited mobility.

A mobile shower commode can include features such as tilt-in-space support, padded seating, adjustable footrests, and compatibility with hoists or transfer systems. Occupational therapists evaluate your functional capacity, carer support, and bathroom layout to recommend the most appropriate model.

This equipment reduces the number of transfers a person must complete during their daily hygiene routine, helping to protect both the client and their carers from physical strain. It can also significantly increase comfort, hygiene, and safety during care tasks.

At South Coast Therapy & Support Group, our occupational therapists conduct in-depth assessments to ensure the right mobile shower commode is prescribed. We also support clients and families through the process of obtaining NDIS or My Aged Care funding.
