At South Coast Therapy and Support Group (Shoalhaven Occupational Therapy), we’re always looking for ways to live out our values — not just within our therapy rooms, but within our community. That’s why we were thrilled to take part in The Smith Family’s Work Inspiration Program, and honoured to receive a Certificate of Appreciation acknowledging our contribution.
Opening Doors for the Next Generation
The Work Inspiration Program provides high school students with the chance to experience real workplaces, explore potential career paths, and develop a clearer sense of what their futures could hold. It’s an initiative that aligns perfectly with our belief in creating inclusive, forward-thinking spaces where growth and confidence can flourish.
Over the past year, our team welcomed students into our clinics and shared what a day in allied health looks like — from the science behind therapy to the values that guide client-centred care. Our staff engaged with the students through workshops, workplace tours, and Q&A sessions that allowed them to gain insight, ask questions, and feel inspired.
Why This Matters
Career inspiration starts with exposure. For many young people, seeing a workplace in action — and meeting the professionals who shape it — can be a transformative experience. It helps them realise what’s possible, and how their own passions and strengths can align with real-world roles.
At South Coast Therapy and Support Group, we believe in nurturing not only our clients and staff but also the future workforce. Participating in this program has given us a deeper appreciation for how small acts — like sharing our stories or offering a guided tour — can plant seeds that grow into meaningful careers.
A Grateful Acknowledgement
We are deeply thankful to The Smith Family for including us in this important initiative. Their commitment to supporting young Australians through education and opportunity is something we’re proud to support.
Receiving this Certificate of Appreciation is a wonderful reminder that community collaboration creates real impact — and that when we invest in young people, we all move forward.
