Building a Telehealth Career in Allied Health: Flexibility, Support and Career Progression

For many Occupational Therapists and Speech Pathologists, career decisions come down to a familiar set of questions. Can I grow professionally without relocating? Can I have flexibility without feeling isolated? Will I have support, mentoring and a clear pathway forward?

Telehealth has changed how many clinicians answer those questions. As award-winning South Coast Therapy & Support Group expands telehealth services nationally, we are growing a team of clinicians who want meaningful work, flexibility and genuine career progression, wherever they are based.

An Award-Winning Workplace

We are proud to have been recognised as an Employer of Choice, Business of the Year, for Excellence in Innovation and as one of the Top 5 Best Places to Work in Australasia.

Awards are meaningful, but what matters most is what sits behind them: a workplace where clinicians feel supported, connected, valued and able to grow. As our telehealth team expands, those same foundations come with it.

Values That Travel With You

At SCTSG, our values aren't words on a wall. They guide how we support our clients, work with each other and grow together as a team, whether clinicians are in the clinic, in the community or working via telehealth.

•       Clients at Heart: We put clients at the centre of every decision, through flexible service delivery, individualised support and strong family collaboration. Telehealth is one more way to do that.

•       Collective Joy: Great workplaces are built through teamwork and connection. Our telehealth clinicians are part of the team, from celebrating achievements to supporting each other.

•       Listen Up: Everyone's voice matters. Open communication, accessible leadership and collaborative decision making apply wherever you work from.

•       Powered by Positivity: We focus on solutions and opportunities, with a growth mindset, innovation and continuous improvement at the core of how we are building telehealth.

What Does a Telehealth Clinician Do?

A telehealth Occupational Therapist or Speech Pathologist delivers therapy by secure video call. A typical week may include:

•       Direct therapy sessions with children, adults and families

•       Parent and carer coaching

•       Goal setting and progress reviews

•       Collaboration with schools, Support Coordinators and other professionals

•       Report writing and home program development

•       Team meetings, supervision and professional development

Flexibility With Connection

Remote work can offer flexibility, but isolation is a real concern for many clinicians. At SCTSG, telehealth clinicians are part of a multidisciplinary team, not working alone. Our team provides:

•       Regular clinical supervision and peer consultation

•       Access to a multidisciplinary team across OT, Speech Pathology and Allied Health Assistant services

•       Administration support, so clinicians can focus on therapy

•       Modern systems and technology for telehealth delivery

•       Ongoing professional development

Career Progression Without Relocating

Traditionally, career progression in allied health often meant moving to a larger city or stepping away from clients into management. We believe there should be more options than that.

Pathways at SCTSG may include:

•       Clinical specialisation in areas of interest

•       Mentoring students, graduates and early career clinicians

•       Clinical education and professional development leadership

•       Service development, including growing telehealth programs

•       Leadership projects that sit alongside client work

Manageable caseloads and structured supervision are central to how we support clinicians to grow sustainably.

Employment and Contractor Options

We welcome enquiries from clinicians interested in employed roles and contractor arrangements, including telehealth, our Nowra clinic and community-based work across the Shoalhaven and Illawarra. Many clinicians enjoy a mix. Options can suit clinicians seeking flexibility, parents returning to work, experienced therapists wanting clinical autonomy and early career clinicians looking for strong support.

Who We're Looking For

We would love to hear from Occupational Therapists and Speech Pathologists who:

•       Are passionate about client-centred, evidence-informed practice

•       Are comfortable, or keen to build confidence, delivering therapy online

•       Value collaboration, learning and community, and connect with our values of Clients at Heart, Collective Joy, Listen Up and Powered by Positivity

•       Want a career that grows with them
